Job Description

Our client is seeking an experienced EE Designer Spec Sr who will perform design and drafting of both electrical and mechanical aspects of electrical/electronic equipment. This role includes:

  • Designing wiring harnesses and creating layout drawings.
  • Checking schematic diagrams provided by electrical engineering.
  • Converting schematic diagrams into wiring diagrams and vice-versa.
  • Performing overall line replaceable unit (LRU) chassis and housing design/drafting, including system packaging.
  • Selecting LRU/wiring harness components such as electrical connectors, accessories, wire, shielding, shield terminators, terminal lugs, etc.
  • Producing schematic diagrams and/or CAD drawings for submission to customers, plant operations, or outside vendors for the production of specified LRU/wiring harnesses and cable assemblies.
  • Ensuring output can be directly entered into data management configuration control.

Skills Required:

  • Experience with electrical/electronic systems of military ground vehicles.
  • Ability to complete designs from concept development to review, detailed design, documentation, and validation of simple sub-systems.
  • Proficiency in using advanced modeling and analysis tools to develop product specifications, models, simulations, technical data packages, and integration/verification procedures.
  • Expert knowledge of CAD drafting/modeling and design techniques.
  • Experience in designing wiring harnesses/cable assemblies, routing of wiring harnesses/cable assemblies, and developing wiring harness/cable assembly drawings.
  • Understanding of drawing generation using Creo Pro-Cable (minimum 2 years of experience).
  • Knowledge of MIL-STD-100, ANSI Y14.5/14.41, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Understanding of wire routing using Logical Data from Mentor Graphics.
  • Working knowledge of military electrical connector and electrical cabling specifications.
  • Capability to create wiring harness schematics with Visio Technical.
  • Excellent team working skills within an Integrated Product Team (IPT) environment.
Experience Required:
  • 5 years of experience in Creo Design.

Education Required:

  • Associate Degree in a relevant technical discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, plus a minimum of 9 years of experience.
  • Alternatively, a relevant Bachelor’s degree or equivalent plus an additional 5 years of experience.
  • Working knowledge of electrical engineering and electro-mechanical engineering tools is highly desired.
