Remediation Specialist (Hybrid)
Job Description
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Remediation Specialist with a background in geology, environmental science, or a related engineering discipline. The ideal candidate will have 3 to 5 years of experience in the investigation and remediation of contaminated sites in New Jersey. This role requires in-depth knowledge of NJDEP Site Remediation regulations and guidance, OSHA Health and Safety requirements, and Hazardous Waste Site Operations. The candidate must be 40-hour OSHA trained with a current 8-hour refresher and associated medical clearance.
Job Description/Daily Duties:
- Support various Project Managers in reviewing technical documents such as Remedial Investigation Reports and Remedial Action Work Plans.
- Oversee soil and groundwater investigation/sampling activities and large, complex remedial construction projects.
- Conduct technical reviews and research to support environmental remedial activities.
- Track regulatory and contractor activities to ensure compliance with NJDEP regulations and guidance and contract commitments.
- Interpret NJDEP guidance and regulations and make recommendations on their applicability to the PSE&G Remediation Program.
- Track project contract and regulatory commitments.
- Review and approve monthly invoices and consultant/contractor change orders.
- Complete project meeting minutes for assigned projects on a timely basis.
- Work on multiple projects simultaneously within a matrix organization.
- Make decisions and recommendations to environmental consultants and contractors to ensure projects are completed safely, in accordance with contract documents and NJDEP rules and regulations.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Education: Degree in geology, environmental science, or related engineering discipline.
- Experience: 3 to 5 years of experience in the investigation and remediation of contaminated sites in New Jersey.
- Certifications: 40-hour OSHA trained with a current 8-hour refresher and associated medical clearance.
- Knowledge:
- NJDEP Site Remediation Program (SRP) regulations and guidance.
- OSHA Health and Safety requirements and Hazardous Waste Site Operations.
- Skills:
- Field and health and safety experience conducting soil and groundwater investigations and remedial actions.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Financial budgeting and forecasting, invoicing, and change order review.
- Detailed/task-oriented and results-driven.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Excellent writing and note-taking skills.
- Project Management: Experience in remediation project management is a plus.
