Job Description
Our client is a leading environmental consulting firm dedicated to providing innovative and effective solutions for environmental challenges. They are currently seeking an experienced Environmental Project Manager to oversee a diverse portfolio of projects with local, state, and federal regulatory drivers.
Position Overview:
As the Environmental Project Manager, you will lead and manage a range of environmental projects across various states including Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine, and Rhode Island. You will oversee technical staff, manage client interactions, and ensure that projects meet regulatory requirements and client expectations. This role requires a professional with a strong background in environmental science, geology, or a related field, and a proven track record in project management.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Project Management: Oversee a portfolio of environmental projects involving local, state, and federal regulations (MCP, Brownfields, RCRA, Superfund).
- Team Supervision: Supervise technical staff, manage resource schedules, and ensure the completion of deliverables including reports, technical memorandums, and proposals.
- Client Relations: Independently manage client interactions, project-level financial budgets, and resource allocation.
- Technical Oversight: Provide expert technical direction on complex projects, review and draft technical reports, and ensure compliance with client and regulatory objectives.
- Remediation Expertise: Evaluate subsurface characteristics for soil, soil vapor, and groundwater remediation projects, and apply remedial systems and solutions.
- Regulatory Strategies: Develop regulatory strategies for client advocacy and manage regulatory submittals and negotiations.
- Team Collaboration: Work effectively with internal teams and business development leads to provide consistent client service.
- Performance Management: Conduct performance reviews for direct reports, lead team meetings to discuss current and future projects, and address project or employee issues.
Skills and Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Geology, Environmental Science, or a similar scientific major.
- Experience: 5-10+ years of related experience, including investigation, reporting, remediation, and management of remedial sites/projects in MA and/or other New England states.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Working knowledge and application of Massachusetts environmental regulations (MCP 310 CMR 40.0000) is required.
- Technical Skills: Proven experience in technical report writing, client interaction, and supervision. Ability to author site work plans, reports, and proposals for complex scopes of work.
- Managerial Experience: Demonstrated prior experience in client, financial, and personnel management, with a track record of maintaining long-term client relationships.
- Certifications: Professional certifications such as LSP (Licensed Site Professional) and/or LEP (Licensed Environmental Professional) are a plus.
- Business Development: Experience in business development and client relationship management is a plus.
