Bookkeeping, Accounting, and Auditing Clerk (On-site)
Job Description
- Independently prioritize and structure workloads to ensure timely and accurate payroll transmission and audits.
- Apply relevant policies and Collective Bargaining Agreements in all payroll tasks.
- Collaborate with Human Resources to administer payroll policies and ensure compliance with Collective Bargaining Agreements.
- Identify and implement improvements in customer service and client interactions within the payroll system.
- Manage and resolve complaints or concerns from employees and clients with discretion and professionalism.
- Conduct in-depth analysis to verify payroll accuracy, including processing special transactions like corrections to tax forms, replacement paychecks, and refund checks.
- Assist managers with payroll audits to ensure deadlines are met and regulatory compliance is maintained.
- Stay up-to-date on changes to New York State and New York City payroll bulletins, ensuring accurate payroll processing.
- Implement provisions from Collective Bargaining Agreements and regulatory guidelines in payroll activities.
- Utilize strong analytical and technical skills to create payroll reports, conduct audits, and ensure timely and accurate processing.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Minimum of 3 years of payroll experience.
- Experience in Human Resources is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of federal, state, and city laws and regulations impacting payroll operations.
- Familiarity with payroll systems and classification structures, such as NYC or NYS systems.
- Strong analytical, technical, and research skills to audit payroll and generate reports.
- Experience with PSQuery (PeopleSoft) and payroll query systems.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, Access, Word, and PeopleSoft programs.
- High level of professionalism, personal integrity, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, team-oriented environment.
- Strong organizational skills to meet strict deadlines and handle multiple assignments.
