Supply Chain Planner II (On-site)
Job Description
Our client is seeking an experienced Supply Chain Planner II to support ship modernization, conversion, and overhaul programs for government and commercial vessels. This role is a key contributor to program execution and will oversee materials coordination and subcontractor performance throughout the full program lifecycle.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience working on U.S. Navy ships, strong knowledge of ship repair and production processes, and the ability to work directly on board vessels in an active shipyard environment.
Position Overview
The Supply Chain Planner II will support program management activities by coordinating materials, schedules, and subcontractor efforts to ensure projects are executed safely, on time, and in compliance with all applicable requirements. This role works closely with program management, supply chain, procurement, and subcontract administrators to align production schedules, budgets, and performance expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Communicate contract requirements, specifications, and customer expectations to internal teams and subcontractors
- Execute contracts in compliance with local, state, and federal safety and environmental regulations
- Prepare project status reports and identify schedule, cost, or performance variances requiring attention
- Ensure subcontractors perform in accordance with integrated project plans, production schedules, and budgets
- Oversee subcontractor work and resolve issues that cannot be addressed by craft supervision
- Conduct ship checks, attend production meetings, and support manpower and schedule planning
- Ensure subcontractors are aware of milestones, key events, and target completion dates
- Ensure compliance with NAVSEA, USCG, ABS, OSHA, and other applicable regulatory standards
- Collaborate with supply chain program management, procurement, and subcontract teams to ensure subcontract documentation aligns with governing regulations including FAR, DFAR, and maritime standards
Required Skills and Experience
- Direct experience working on U.S. Navy ships with strong understanding of ship repair and production processes
- Ability to go onboard ships, climb ladders, and conduct shipboard walkthroughs
- Experience with production scheduling and ship repair operations
- Demonstrated knowledge of ship repair through project management, planning, operations, or supply chain roles
- Strong Excel skills with the ability to multitask and manage complex data
- Proven project coordination and execution experience in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to assess production progress, identify improvement opportunities, and report status to senior leadership
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to quickly learn new systems and tools
- Strong working knowledge of NAVSEA, USCG, ABS, OSHA regulations and industry best practices
- Familiarity with Earned Value Management concepts, including SPI, CPI, and BAC metrics
- Minimum of 5 years of work experience in a ship repair or shipbuilding environment
