Architect (On-site), Non-IT role
Job Description
HEPCO is currently seeking a skilled and experienced Architect to join our team. As an Architect, you will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with State Fire and Building Codes, as well as the Federal Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), for capital projects throughout all phases of the project life cycle. - Review capital projects at various stages, including pre-design through closeout phases, to ensure compliance with State Fire and Building Codes, as well as ADA regulations.
- Conduct thorough reviews of project drawings and narratives during Master Plan, Scope of Work, and different Design phases, providing comments and recommendations for code and ADA compliance.
- Attend design review meetings to oversee the incorporation of ADA regulations into project designs.
- Occasionally perform construction acceptance and/or maintenance inspections for Fire, Code, and Accessibility compliance during station and facility rehabilitation, adhering to State Fire and Building Codes, ADA Accessibility Guidelines (ADAAG) standards, and contract documents.
Education Requirements:
- Possession of a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college in Engineering, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Business Administration, or Public Administration, along with three years of relevant experience or
- Possession of a four-year high school diploma or its equivalent, coupled with seven years of relevant experience or
- Possession of a four-year high school diploma or its equivalent, plus a combination of college education and/or experience equivalent to seven years
Experience Requirements:
- Project management experience commensurate with the level of education mentioned above.
- Minimum of three years' experience in a supervisory capacity OR one year as a project manager for a large and/or complex construction project.
- Preference given to candidates with expertise in Code Enforcement or Accessibility.
- Experience in accessible and barrier-free design.
- Familiarity with Fire Department operations.
- Knowledge of energy conservation practices.
- Proficiency in building materials selection.
- Construction management or inspection experience.
- Proficiency in using the MS Office Suite.
Normal Work Week:
Monday to Friday 8:00AM to 5:00PM
Work Location:
Based out of 2 Broadway, New York, NY but requires 40% field office travel or as assigned throughout the service territory (such as 525 N Broadway White Plains, NY, 420 Lexington Ave. New York, NY, JCC- LIRR Yard, Jamaica, NY) and ability to telework.
