Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated Associate Project Manager II (APM) to support capital projects across all phases of the project lifecycle. This role is responsible for reviewing projects for compliance with New York State Fire and Building Codes and the Federal Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), ensuring regulatory adherence from pre-design through closeout.

The ideal candidate has experience in code enforcement, accessible design, fire department operations review, energy conservation, or site inspections, and brings strong technical knowledge and supervisory experience.

  • Review capital projects from pre-design through closeout for compliance with NYS Fire and Building Codes and ADA regulations
  • Review drawings, narratives, Master Plans, Scope of Work documents, and multiple design phases for code compliance
  • Provide written comments and technical feedback to project teams
  • Participate in design review meetings to ensure ADA requirements are fully integrated
  • Perform construction acceptance and maintenance inspections at stations and facilities undergoing rehabilitation
  • Verify compliance with State Fire and Building Codes, ADA Accessibility Guidelines, and contract documents

Qualification Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in Engineering, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Project Management, Business Administration, or Public Administration and two (2) years of experience
  • OR
  • High school diploma (or equivalent) and six (6) years of relevant experience
  • OSHA 30-Hour Certification (required prior to performing work on or near wayside areas)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of building materials
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Successful completion of track safety training 
  • Completion of New York State Code Enforcement Official Certification prior to start of work
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in one or more of the following:
    • Code enforcement
    • Accessible design
    • Plan review of fire department operations
    • Energy conservation
    • Site inspections
  • Experience must include serving in a supervisory capacity

Pay Range: $42.00 - $47.00 per hour (Depending on experience and qualifications)
