Job Description

Vicor is expanding its operations to vertically integrate core printed circuit board processes and is seeking a dedicated CAD/CAM Technician to support our front-end imaging operations. The ideal candidate will have experience in CAD/CAM programming, LED imaging, optical measurement systems, and handling equipment. This role will involve gathering design data, assisting in imaging setup, and processing data through image automation.

  • CAD/CAM Operations:

    • Work under the supervision of the CAD/CAM Engineering Lead to support daily operational requirements.
    • Learn current CAD/CAM tooling processes, scripts, and tools to support vertical integration.
    • Read and process design files (e.g., .dxf, Gerber) using software design tools.
    • Coordinate internal files to generate daily CAD/CAM packages for in-house facility operations.
  • Imaging & Plating Support:

    • Use INCAM to create production plating images for the MDI imager, including:
      • Layer scaling for etch compensation
      • Fixture multi-up imaging
      • Plating surface area calculation
      • Tooling images for proper tenting
      • DFM functions to resolve design rule violations
    • Collaborate with engineering teams to resolve DXF/Gerber design violations.
  • Production Support:

    • Process routings and part-specific travelers for daily production use.
    • Support hardware such as MDI imaging systems, AOI systems, Inkjet solder mask printers, and LPKF stencil cutters.
    • Ensure timely processing of CAD/CAM files and provide troubleshooting for associated equipment.
  • Documentation & Quality Assurance:

    • Create part-specific first article documentation, including critical line width and space measurements and process notes.
    • Assist the CAD engineer in establishing change order/revision controls and document all front-end modifications.
  • Production & Process Improvement:

    • Support all elements of production, ensuring maximum uptime and efficiency.
    • Generate and track process throughput and yield performance metrics.
    • Debug hardware and software issues related to manufacturing new processes.

Education & Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2-4 years of CAD/CAM experience
  • Experience in:
    • Circuit CAD layout and soldermask file creation
    • Imaging and optical inspection files
    • Product routing/traveler generation
    • Interpreting and reading production drawings
  • Familiarity with:
    • Qualifying new process equipment, generating equipment specifications, and conducting process/product qualification
    • Monitoring process yield and driving process improvements
    • Debugging manufacturing hardware and software
  • Ability to train and lead operators based on established documentation
  • Ability to work independently and thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Willingness to occasionally work on second shifts and weekends based on demand
  • Ability to travel to off-site locations as needed
  • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs

Compensation:

  • Pay Rate: $53,000 to $86,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications.
