Design & Construction Health and Safety Manager (On-site)

Job Description
Our client is seeking a dedicated and experienced Design & Construction Health and Safety Manager to oversee safety protocols and procedures at major infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in safety management within the construction and design industry, especially in complex repair and rehabilitation projects.
- Develop and implement safety plans and protocols for construction sites
- Ensure that all onsite personnel are taking proper safety precautions and executing the site’s designated safety plans
- Regularly perform workplace inspections to identify and address unsafe conditions
- Stay up to date with relevant industry regulations and draft emergency exit plans or targeted instructions for onsite personnel
- Collaborate with Port Authority and contractors to develop safety plans and protocols that foster an open culture of safety
- Conduct daily safety audits and inspections to ensure personnel, equipment, and materials comply with government safety regulations
- Identify safety-related risks and hazards on project sites and work with project leadership to design solutions to mitigate these risks
- Ensure compliance with company standards as well as local and state laws governing buildings, including health codes, building codes, plumbing codes, and electrical codes
- Train personnel on safety procedures and conduct safety training programs
Qualifications:
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and web-based applications
- Proactive self-starter capable of setting a positive example for the staff
- Minimum of ten (10) years of experience as part of a safety management project team involved in the design and construction of major repair/rehabilitation infrastructure projects, preferably at major airports
- Experience in oversight of crane operations
- Familiarity with Port Authority and airport work zone safety regulations
- Knowledge of safety, security, and compliance-related regulatory requirements as they pertain to aviation/airport operations
- Knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations
- Technical competency in aviation safety management systems, mishap prevention, and accident investigation
- OSHA 40-hour certification required
- Confined Space certification required
- Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Ability to pass a SWAC Background Check at a high level
