Job Description

Our client is seeking a Senior Designer to support their program initiatives by creating innovative and practical mechanical and electro-mechanical concepts and designs for components, assemblies, tools, and products of varying complexity. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with engineering, vendors, manufacturing, quality, and customers to ensure design specifications are met and designs are free of layout process defects. Additionally, they may assist engineers with defining design standards and configurations, applying Computer Aided Design (CAD) methodologies, theories, and techniques.

  • Generate innovative mechanical and electro-mechanical concepts and designs.
  • Collaborate with engineering, vendors, manufacturing, and customers.
  • Ensure designs adhere to engineering and military standards, procedures, and specifications.
  • Provide expert technical consultation to the division and customer community.
  • Prepare complex design layouts, schematics, or sketches.
  • Review completed engineering documents for accuracy and compliance.
  • Coordinate closely with systems engineers to fulfill contractual requirements.

Skills Required:

  • Proficient in tolerance analysis and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Proficient in using CAD equipment and drafting techniques, including 3D modeling.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of military drawings, specifications, and MILSPEC/STD's.
  • Comprehensive product line knowledge at various levels.
  • Knowledge of Model Based Definition (MBD) is a plus.

Experience Required:

  • Minimum 9 years of design/drafting experience using Pro-E/Creo CAD system.
  • Experience with Creo 7 is required.

Education Required:

  • Associate Degree with emphasis in engineering drafting/design or equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Minimum nine additional years drafting and design experience, including five years of advanced design concepts and applications.
