Electrical Engineer (On-site)
Job Description
Build the brains behind modern factory automation. This is a direct hire opportunity for a senior-level electrical engineer who wants to design, integrate, and bring complex industrial systems to life.
Overview
As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for the electrical design, development, documentation, and testing of factory automation systems. This includes integrating a wide range of industrial components and machinery. You will work on diverse design projects involving electrical circuits, panels, enclosures, and cabling, spanning PLC-based control systems, Ethernet communications, robotics, and power distribution. You will also support and advise on the assembly of newly designed systems.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with management and engineering teams to define requirements for new factory automation systems and modifications to existing systems.
- Design and schematically capture all electrical circuits for new and modified factory automation systems.
- Use Broadridge-approved CAD tools to design electrical subsystems, including panels, enclosures, and cabling, and produce complete assembly documentation.
- Select PLC components in accordance with Broadridge standards and integrate them into new electrical subsystems as needed.
- Work with the software development team on PLC programming, including core system functions and diagnostics.
- Ensure electrical designs meet safety, reliability, and cost-effectiveness objectives.
- Collaborate with mechanical engineers, software engineers, project managers, and production staff to troubleshoot and debug newly assembled systems.
- Support and advise technicians during system assembly.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of design tools, processes, and standards, including evaluation of new CAD tools and diagnostic instruments.
- Stay current on industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory requirements.
- Provide technical support and training to staff.
- Establish and maintain strong working relationships with vendors supplying electrical components and technical services.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related electrical discipline.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in electrical engineering focused on factory automation and industrial system integration.
- Demonstrated experience collaborating with management and engineering teams to develop system requirements and specifications.
- Strong experience integrating disparate industrial components and machinery into factory automation systems, including custom circuitry, panels, and cabling.
- Strong experience designing PLC-based factory control systems.
- Strong experience integrating industrial safety components into factory automation systems.
- Proficiency in electrical schematic capture using tools such as AutoCAD, Microsoft Visio, or similar software.
- Proficiency with mechanical CAD tools such as SolidWorks or Autodesk Inventor.
- Hands-on experience using oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.
- Solid understanding of electrical assembly processes and documentation for panels, enclosures, and cables.
- Experience working with vendors to select components and support purchased systems.
- Proven troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to quickly learn new technologies and apply them to automation challenges.
- Strong attention to detail and effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, while managing multiple design projects at once.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience designing industrial Ethernet topologies.
- Experience with robotics, including electrical integration of robot controllers into PLC-based systems.
- Experience specifying industrial power distribution topologies, including isolation transformers and coordination with facilities installers.
- Proficiency with power analyzers and Ethernet analyzers.
Working Conditions
- Primarily office-based in El Dorado Hills, CA.
- Occasional travel to project installations at other company factory locations.
