Job Description

Our client is seeking experienced Electrical Safety Officers to support the Electrical Safety Program at LANL. The Electrical Safety Officer is responsible for ensuring safe electrical work practices across construction and maintenance activities. This role provides electrical safety expertise, supports field operations, and serves as the primary point of contact for all electrical safety matters.

The ideal candidate will have advanced knowledge of electrical systems and safety standards, excellent communication skills, and a proven ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure compliance with federal and site-specific safety requirements.

  • Serve as the primary contact for electrical safety and administer the LANL Electrical Safety Program
  • Provide guidance and resources to employees and managers on electrical safety concerns
  • Conduct incident investigations, determine root causes, and develop corrective actions
  • Perform workplace inspections to identify and mitigate electrical hazards
  • Lead reviews of Integrated Work Documents (IWDs) and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures
  • Contribute to the development and revision of electrical safety codes, standards, and specifications
  • Support engineers and scientists in solving complex technical and safety issues
  • Evaluate controlled items and services for compliance with electrical safety requirements
  • Perform calculations to determine electrical incident severity scores
  • Develop and maintain written electrical safety policies, procedures, and design standards

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of relevant field experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level security clearance
  • Advanced knowledge of electrical safety standards, including NFPA, IEEE, and OSHA, with emphasis on NFPA 70E
  • Hands-on experience in electrical engineering or technology involving AC and DC systems
  • Strong computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to complete Radiological Worker II training
