Energy Engineer (Hybrid) NJ Residency Required

Job Description

Our client is seeking a solution-driven Energy Engineer to support clean energy programs for a major utility provider in New Jersey. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy problem-solving, working with diverse stakeholders, and contributing to energy efficiency initiatives across commercial and industrial sectors.

  • Provide technical support and guidance on energy-efficient technologies and best practices to customers, architects, engineers, contractors, and trade allies
  • Assist in preparing and reviewing technical specifications and engineering calculations for energy efficiency projects
  • Validate energy savings calculations to ensure accuracy and alignment with program requirements and technical reference manuals
  • Monitor project pipeline and ensure timely progression while maintaining accurate records in CRM systems
  • Support relationship management with key stakeholders including customers, contractors, and consultants
  • Maintain regular communication with service providers to gather feedback and support program participation
  • Assist with and deliver program trainings for participants as needed
  • Evaluate building plans and specifications and recommend energy efficiency improvements
  • Prepare project status reports to track progress and support program goals
  • Support Quality Assurance activities including inspections and customer surveys
  • Travel within New Jersey as needed; reliable transportation required

  • NJ Residency Required
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external partners
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Familiarity with energy efficiency programs, technologies, and commercial building systems
  • Experience or exposure to energy savings calculations or modeling tools
  • Understanding of ASHRAE 90.1 standards
  • Knowledge of building science and sustainable design practices
  • Internship or project experience in construction, utilities, or energy programs
  • Interest in or progress toward certifications such as LEED or Certified Energy Manager (CEM)
  • Must be a New Jersey resident
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Energy, Building Science, Construction Management, or related field
  • 0–5 years of relevant experience in energy efficiency, building systems, or related fields

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to travel within the client’s territory
  • Site visits will require physical activity for extended periods of time, including but not limited to standing, walking, occasional climbing and kneeling, and other field work as required. Field work may involve both indoor and outdoor environments and exposure to varying temperatures. Candidates must follow all safety and health policies during site visits.

Pay Range: $33.65 - $48.07 per hour (Depending on experience and qualifications)
