Engineer III, SR - Project, EI&C (On-site)
Job Description
Our client is seeking a Project Engineer specializing in Electrical, Instrumentation, and Controls (EI&C) engineering to lead and manage projects related to capital investment initiatives. This role involves working in a multi-discipline team environment, managing EI&C components across all project phases from feasibility to turnover. You will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring projects are executed safely, on time, and within budget.
- Develop project scope and execution plans for EI&C engineering, including safety, quality, and regulatory reviews (e.g., HAZOP, code reviews).
- Collaborate on cost estimates, manage project budgets, and drive improvements in safety, quality, and cost.
- Facilitate development of project execution strategies and schedules according to project phases.
- Manage changes in project scope and priorities.
- Represent the company's interests when coordinating with third-party contractors and suppliers.
- Monitor progress, compile project reports, and ensure compliance with best practices in project management, engineering, and construction.
- Ensure safe and regulatory-compliant project execution, providing start-up support to operations.
- Compile and provide as-built documentation and collaborate on the development of standards and codes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, and/or Controls Engineering.
- Minimum of 6 years of industrial EI&C project experience, with a focus on operations or maintenance (experience in the chemical industry is a plus).
- Expertise in project management for EI&C, including scope development, cost estimates, scheduling, and vendor evaluations.
- Proficient in Power Distribution (e.g., Medium/Low Voltage Switchgear, MCC, Transformers, VFDs), and instrumentation technologies, including P&ID, Ex Zone, and IP Rating.
- Expertise in controls systems, such as DCS, PLCs, SIS, and communication protocols.
- Familiarity with E&I construction documentation (cable tray plans, power plans, grounding, etc.) and a strong understanding of NEC, NFPA, and UL codes.
- Ability to thrive under schedule and cost pressures.
- Preferred: Professional Engineer (PE) registration in Tennessee.
