Job Description

Our client is seeking an experienced Engineer Technologist Principal to support its Naval weapon systems production team in Louisville, KY. This is a high-impact role for someone ready to lead innovation in machining processes, challenge current operations, and drive improvements across the manufacturing value stream.

The ideal candidate will provide technical leadership, hands-on problem-solving, and strategic process enhancements to ensure production efficiency, cost control, and high-quality delivery to customers. This position is well-suited for an individual with a deep background in machining operations, tool design, and manufacturing process optimization.

  • Provide strategic technical direction on complex machining projects, influencing decisions and aligning with business goals
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including design, quality, and production to ensure seamless integration of machining processes
  • Develop and optimize machining processes and create tooling/fixtures as required
  • Identify and resolve technical challenges in machining operations, equipment performance, and product quality
  • Implement and maintain quality control practices throughout the machining lifecycle, including monitoring and final inspection
  • Maintain detailed documentation and analysis for process improvements and historical reference

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical discipline (engineering or technology)
  • Strong proficiency with Siemens NX software for machining design and programming
  • In-depth knowledge of machining equipment, tooling, materials, and advanced manufacturing techniques
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience applying quality control standards and inspection protocols
  • Project planning and execution skills, with a focus on timely and high-quality delivery
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (SharePoint, Outlook, Excel, Word, Project, PowerPoint)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience in a machining or manufacturing environment
  • Background in defense contracting
  • Proficiency programming complex 3, 4, and 5-axis mills, as well as multi-axis vertical and horizontal lathes
  • Experience leading the creation of ROMs, BOEs, and quoting efforts
  • Familiarity with programming multiple head configurations
  • PMP certification or formal program/project management training
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and time management skills

Pay Range: $63.00 - $68.00 per hour (Depending on experience and qualifications)
