Software Test Engineer (On-site), No C2C, Secret Clearance required
Job Description
We are seeking a Software Test Engineer with a passion for working in advanced technology integration and testing environments. This role will support software integration labs by designing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and supporting complex test and simulation environments. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechatronic integration skills, hands-on hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) experience, and the ability to collaborate effectively with both onsite and remote teams.
- Design, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory integration and test environments
- Support hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) systems and simulation tools
- Configure, validate, and troubleshoot serial communication links including RS-232/422/485, CAN, and Ethernet interfaces
- Analyze and interpret system logs using tools such as Windows Event Viewer, syslog, and dmesg
- Perform circuit debugging and diagnostics using multimeters and related test equipment
- Support Linux and Windows operating systems within lab environments
- Assist with fabrication, troubleshooting, and repair of cables and harnesses
- Collaborate with engineering teams to support software integration, validation, and system-level testing
- Participate in test planning, execution, documentation, and reporting activities
- Support continuous improvement of lab infrastructure, test automation, and diagnostic capabilities
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field required
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant engineering experience
- Strong understanding of computer networking fundamentals including VLANs and switch configuration
- Proficiency with Linux and Windows terminals, shell scripting, and PowerShell
- Experience troubleshooting complex electro-mechanical systems including sensor and actuator interfaces
- Hands-on experience configuring and validating serial communication links and simulation hardware
- Experience with multimeters and circuit debugging techniques
- Must be eligible to obtain a U.S. Secret security clearance
- Strong commitment to continuous learning and staying current with emerging technologies in computing, simulation, and test environments
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with NI TestStand for test sequence development and execution
- Knowledge of HIL model-hardware interaction and real-time simulation workflows
- Experience with Wireshark, tcpdump, or similar packet-capture and network analysis tools
- Basic understanding of C/C++ for reading or modifying scripts and firmware
- Experience with communication protocols including CAN, LIN, MIL-STD-1553, and ARINC 429
- Understanding of Ethernet standards including 10/100/1000 Mbps, QoS, and VLAN tagging
- Experience supporting datacenter or lab infrastructure including virtualization, storage, and rack-mounted systems

Pay Range: $47.00 - $51.00 per hour (Depending on experience and qualifications)
