Job Description

We are hiring on behalf of our client for a direct hire opportunity for highly skilled and experienced Environmental Engineer/Manager . This is an excellent opportunity to apply your environmental science and engineering expertise on major infrastructure and construction projects, with a strong focus on regulatory compliance and environmental remediation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and enforce the contractor’s compliance with all environmental requirements outlined in the Design-Build Contract.
  • Ensure environmental submittals (PRDC 12) are reviewed and approved by the project owner’s Environmental Engineering group.
  • Participate in and conduct environmental meetings and jobsite walkthroughs.
  • Coordinate with project stakeholders for scheduling of asbestos abatement, noise/dust monitoring, and hazardous materials oversight.
  • Oversee hazardous materials handling, including lead, by the contractor.
  • Notify project management of hazardous waste disposals and arrange for proper sign-off on waste manifests.
  • Respond to environmental violations (e.g., dust/noise exceedances or hazardous materials mishandling) and direct corrective actions.
  • Report on any environmental incidents within 24 hours.
  • Prepare daily activity reports and ensure environmental compliance throughout construction activities.
  • Interpret scientific and technical data relevant to environmental issues.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Required Qualifications:

  • OSHA HAZWOPER/HAZMAT 40-Hour Certification
  • MTA-NYCT Track Safety Training
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or related field
  • Strong knowledge of environmental engineering and remediation practices, permitting, and data interpretation
  • Experience with NEPA permitting, ecological studies, soil and groundwater sampling
  • Prior experience with MTA, NJ Transit, DOT, DEP, DDC, or PANYNJ projects preferred
  • Excellent technical writing, communication, and analytical skills
  • Ability to travel throughout the NYC Metro Area
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and capable of learning and using project-specific software tools
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license is a plus

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience providing environmental inspections for NY, NJ, and/or NYC agencies

Pay: $121,455 – $164,221 per year (based on qualifications and experience)
