Fellow Engineer- Nuclear Safety (On-site)
Job Description
We are seeking qualified candidates for a Fellow Engineer – Nuclear Safety opportunity for our client in Aiken, SC to support the Savannah River Site. The Fellow Engineer – Nuclear Safety position involves applying technical experience in a specific field of specialization or broad-based experience in multiple technical areas to resolve complex problems. This role requires incorporating advanced technical practices and a variety of complex features into problem solving and program planning. The selected candidate will provide leadership in determining solutions to technical challenges and will be recognized for their expertise in functional areas of nuclear safety engineering.
Responsibilities include developing solutions to complex technical problems, preparing plans including schedules, budgets, and personnel requirements, and communicating results and objectives to various stakeholders. Additionally, the role supports the SRNS Nuclear & Criticality Safety Engineering organization in the development, review, and implementation of nuclear safety documentation for various facilities at the Savannah River Site.
Responsibilities:- Apply technical experience in one or more specialized fields to resolve complex problems.
- Incorporate advanced practices and complex features into problem solving and program planning.
- Provide leadership in determining effective solutions and contribute expertise in nuclear safety.
- Develop technical solutions and identify independent programs where appropriate.
- Lead task teams and manage plans involving schedules, budgets, and resource requirements.
- Monitor progress and quality of technical work performed.
- Communicate findings and objectives through verbal reports, written documentation, and technical manuscripts.
- Prepare reports for internal and external publication.
- Provide technical assistance in developing and reviewing nuclear safety documents and analyses.
- Ensure nuclear safety documentation complies with applicable regulations.
- Conduct Nuclear Safety Program assessments and maintain associated documentation.
Requirements:
- Ph.D. in a relevant discipline with approximately 10 years of experience, or
- MS degree with 12 years of experience, or
- BS degree with 10–15 years of experience.
- Demonstrated minimum of 15 years of recent experience in the nuclear safety industry.
- Current experience with 10 CFR 830, DOE O 413.3, DOE O 420.1, and related DOE directives and standards.
- Accountability for safety, schedules, and budgets in past project or facility roles.
- Proficiency in conducting Nuclear Safety Program assessments.
- Contribution to the advancement of knowledge in the field through technical publications or presentations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Possession of an active DOE clearance (L or Q) within the last two years.
- Experience in the Hazard Analysis Process related to DSA/TSR development.
- Previous experience with SRS nuclear safety engineering.
- Experience developing and maintaining SRS safety basis documents.

Pay Range: $60.00 - $65.00 per hour (Depending on experience and qualifications)
