GIS Mapper (On-site)
Job Description
Our client is seeking a skilled GIS Mapper to join their team for utility system operations. This role involves maintaining and updating the GIS connected model, producing detailed reports and maps, and handling various data analysis tasks related to the construction, operation, and maintenance of utility systems. The position requires both office and fieldwork, and candidates should be comfortable using GIS software, performing data queries, and resolving discrepancies in the system.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and update the GIS connected model with accurate data from sources like work management systems, as-built drawings, work orders, and field reports.
- Perform analysis and queries to generate reports, charts, tabulations, and maps from asset information.
- Produce standard prints and ad-hoc plots for field requests based on GIS data.
- Ensure service point data and the relationships to feeding transformers are correctly tracked.
- Track the lifespan of utility assets, including their history, inspections, and related attachments.
- Investigate and resolve conflicting data or mapping issues through both office and field work.
- Support major projects, including facility relocations, load rearrangements, and new business requirements.
- Operate office equipment such as printers, plotters, duplication machines, and scanners.
- Maintain proper filing and record-keeping for all work-related data.
- Assist in manual or computer-aided drafting tasks.
- Drive a car or light truck when required for fieldwork.
- Provide assistance to colleagues in both office and field environments as needed.
- Perform other related skilled tasks as required.
Qualifications:
- 1-2 years of experience with GIS (work-related or school-based).
- Familiarity with electric utility systems is a plus.
- Knowledge of GIS software, including MicroStation or AutoCAD (strong plus but not required).
- Ability to work with various business applications and maintain updated knowledge of materials, equipment, and utility systems.
- Valid driver's license to operate motor vehicles in New Jersey.
- Proficient in MS Office and other Windows applications.
- Must be able to work at different client locations depending on business needs and workload.
- Ability to work in a unionized environment and follow relevant safety rules and practices.

Pay Range: $26.00 - $29.00 per hour (Depending on experience and qualifications)
