GIS Mapper (On-site)
Job Description
Our client is seeking skilled GIS contractors for a specialized GIS customer connectivity project. This role will involve reviewing customer addresses and accounts within GIS, validating or relocating them to the nearest transformers. Ideal candidates should have a strong GIS background, an understanding of data analysis, and the ability to make decisions regarding data accuracy.
- Focus on the GIS customer connectivity initiative, ensuring accurate mapping of customer accounts to transformers.
- Review customer addresses/accounts, validating or relocating them to the most appropriate transformer.
- Use data analytics tools and algorithms to evaluate data accuracy, identifying whether customers are correctly linked to their assigned transformer or need reassignment.
- Assess whether the suggested transformer provided by the algorithm is the best relocation option, making judgment calls as necessary.
- Identify outliers and ensure data accuracy and integrity.
Duties:
- Maintain the GIS connected model with information sourced from work management systems, as-built construction drawings, work orders, completion records, and other data.
- Perform analysis and queries to prepare reports, charts, and maps based on GIS data.
- Create standard and ad-hoc plots for field requests.
- Track service point data and its relationship to the source transformer.
- Monitor the lifespan of utility assets, including history, inspection, and maintenance.
- Resolve issues with conflicting data, mapping, connectivity, or land ownership through office or field investigation.
- Assist with GIS work for major projects such as facility relocations, load rearrangement, and new business.
- Perform manual or computer-aided drafting.
- Operate automated office equipment (printers, plotters, scanners).
- Conduct fieldwork (5-10% of the time), requiring travel between various job sites. Contractors will be responsible for operating their own vehicle to travel from site to site.
Required Qualifications:
- 1-2 years of GIS experience (either through work or formal education).
- Familiarity with GIS applications and understanding the relationships between assets within GIS.
- Knowledge of utilities' Transmission and Distribution systems.
- Strong ability to resolve mapping, connectivity, and data issues.
- Proficient in MS Office and other Windows applications.

Pay Range: $24.00 - $29.00 per hour (Depending on experience and qualifications)
