GIS Mapper (On-site)
Job Description
We are seeking a GIS Mapper for our client to maintain and update GIS data related to electric utility transmission and distribution systems.
- Maintain the electric GIS connected model using information from work management systems, as-built construction drawings, work orders, completion records, field reports, and other sources.
- Update, edit, and modify geospatial data within maps.
- Process work orders in GIS and produce print distributions for completed updates.
- Perform analyses and queries and prepare reports, tabulations, charts, custom maps, standard prints, and ad-hoc plots.
- Maintain service-point data and its relationship to the feeding source transformer.
- Track utility asset data, including history, inspections, and attachments.
- Resolve conflicting data, mapping, connectivity, and land issues through office or field investigation.
- Perform GIS work for facility relocations, load rearrangements, new business, and other major projects.
- Perform manual or computer-aided drafting.
- Operate printers, plotters, duplication machines, scanners, and other office equipment.
- Maintain records and data related to assigned work.
- Assist employees with plant, field, or office work as needed.
Qualifications
- One to two years of GIS experience through employment, internships, or school.
- Experience using GIS applications and an understanding of how relationships work within GIS.
- Ability to learn the client’s business applications, utility systems, equipment, procedures, safety rules, and operating and maintenance manuals.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other Windows applications.
- Valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience editing or modifying GIS data.
- MicroStation or AutoCAD experience.
- Utility-industry experience.
Work Schedule and Travel Requirements
- Contractors must work onsite every day for a minimum of eight weeks for training.
- Once able to work independently, contractors may transition to a hybrid rotation. The number of remote days will depend on work assignments at each office.
- Contractors must travel to a secondary client location once per week on a rotating basis to complete print distributions.
- Approximately 5–10% of the position may involve fieldwork.
- Contractors must be able to work at various client locations based on business needs and workload.
- If fieldwork is required, the contractor is expected to use their own vehicle.

Pay Range: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour (Depending on experience and qualifications)
