IT Infrastructure Engineer DB2 Database Administrator (On-site)
Job Description
HEPCO is seeking an experienced IT Infrastructure Engineer specializing in DB2 database administration for a direct-hire role with a New York City government agency.
The ideal candidate will have proven experience supporting DB2 version 12 or higher on an IBM z/OS platform. This role will support the Payroll Management System (PMS), Pension Payroll Management System (PPMS), and Financial Management System (FMS).
Primary Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and tune DB2 databases efficiently.
- Develop and validate procedures for database processes.
- Identify potential issues and implement modifications or updates to DB2 programs.
- Coordinate with Technical Support regarding all elements to be migrated, including detailed production-migration instructions.
- Assist systems teams with tool upgrades and participate in disaster recovery drills.
- Define and execute database recovery functions and standard database-tuning procedures, including RUNSTATS and REORG.
- Monitor critical database operations, including backup and recovery processes, logging, and system response times.
- Open and manage IBM support tickets through resolution.
- Partner with application development teams to install and migrate software releases, complete DB2-related tasks, and support data fixes.
- Perform backups and package database changes for production deployment.
- Troubleshoot DB2 issues affecting online and batch programs during production, user acceptance testing, integrated system testing, performance testing, and development.
- Design and execute technical tests to ensure vendor and agency software deliveries meet established quality and completeness standards.
- Perform all system administration activities for IBM InfoSphere Data Replication.
- Maintain the high availability of IBM InfoSphere Data Replication, a critical component of the Financial Management System.
Minimum Qualification Requirements
Candidates must meet one of the following requirements:
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, engineering, or a related field, plus four years of satisfactory full-time experience in data center engineering and operations, cloud engineering and operations, or complex IT infrastructure engineering; or
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in any field, plus eight years of satisfactory full-time experience in data center engineering and operations, cloud engineering and operations, or complex IT infrastructure engineering; or
- An equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.

Pay Range: $75,0000 - $160,000 per year (Depending on experience and qualifications)
