Lead Structural Engineer (On-site)
Job Description
Our client is seeking a Lead Structural Engineer to join the team at the Comanche Peak Nuclear Plant in Glen Rose, TX. The successful candidate will lead structural engineering efforts, working closely with a multidisciplinary team of engineers and designers. Responsibilities include preparing plant modification packages, performing engineering calculations, and conducting evaluations and studies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the structural lead engineer, preparing design change packages and coordinating interdisciplinary teams to meet deadlines and budget.
- Perform structural calculations and evaluations supporting the design of piping, cable, small equipment supports, instrument racks, floor load impacts, and seismic response evaluations.
- Collaborate with plant stakeholders to define project scope and requirements and support construction, implementation, and start-up activities.
- Review and ensure accuracy and compliance of completed work by others, coordinate efforts between the structural group and other disciplines.
- Develop material estimates, work-hour estimates, and engineering and design schedules.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution
- Professional Engineering (PE) license (ability to obtain a PE in Texas)
- 10+ years of experience in industrial steel and concrete design for heavy industrial facilities
- Ability to obtain unescorted access within a nuclear power plant
- Nuclear experience in a U.S. operating plant
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in structural modifications and evaluations at commercial nuclear power plants
- Existing Design Engineer qualifications at a commercial nuclear power plant
- Familiarity with nuclear standards and guidelines
- NANTeL certification in the Nuclear Standard Design Process (IP-ENG-01)
- Field experience at an operating nuclear plant
Salary: $130k - $170k annually (Depending on experience and qualifications)
