Manufacturing Quality Engineer (On-site), non-IT role
Job Description
Currently, our client is seeking a skilled individual to join their team as a Quality Assurance Laser Tracker / CMM Inspector at their facility in Louisville, KY. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to their quality efforts and make a real impact in a dynamic environment.
Position Overview: As a Quality Assurance Laser Tracker / CMM Inspector, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the quality of products through meticulous inspection and adherence to quality assurance procedures. Your responsibilities will include developing quality plans, performing layout work on measurement equipment using advanced laser inspection tools, and utilizing software for offline programming.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret customer drawings and specifications to identify appropriate inspection methods.
- Evaluate geometric dimensioning and tolerancing specifications.
- Conduct 1st piece, last piece, and in-process inspection checks.
- Determine final disposition of nonconforming material.
- Provide support to Manufacturing Engineering and other business units.
- Direct the work of less senior personnel as needed.
- Maintain a safe work environment and ensure compliance with safety policies.
- Utilize laser tracker to align components to machine coordinates.
- Optimize machine stock by determining best fit for weldments.
- Support off-shifts and/or overtime when required.
Skills Required:
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting customer drawings and specifications.
- Strong understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
- Experience with portable Metrology Inspection and Alignment.
- Ability to use shop math effectively.
- Flexibility to support overtime and/or off-shift teams.
- Computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office software (Word, Outlook, Excel, etc.).
- Familiarity with ANSI Y14.5 GD&T standards.
- Experience reading and working with blueprints.
Experience Required:
- High School diploma (or GED or equivalent) and 8 years related work experience, or
- Associate's Degree and 6 years related work experience, or
- Bachelor's Degree and 4 years related work experience, or
- Overall equivalent combination of education and experience.
