Computer Support Specialist (On-site)
Job Description
We are seeking a Computer Support Specialist to support the Office of Aging and Long-Term Care.
This position will function as part of the Center for Data Architecture, Intelligence & Support (DAIS) and will assist with activities related to COVID-19 response efforts, data management, technical support, and staff training across health care facilities statewide.
- Assist with COVID-19 related activities in health care facilities throughout New York State
- Collect and manage datasets external to OALTC
- Run and maintain data pipelines that feed the OALTC Data Lake
- Perform data analysis and variance analysis to validate Hospital and Long-Term Care COVID-19 statistics
- Maintain and improve LTC contact databases used for ad hoc requests and daily operations
- Run and consolidate ad hoc reports to support survey follow-up activities
- Create and maintain data dictionaries and map existing databases
- Perform routine database maintenance as directed
- Research, create, and maintain documentation on data assets
- Serve as liaison with ITS to coordinate timely installation of software and hardware on employee devices
- Provide general computer support to staff
- Train DOH staff, providers, and consumers on data tools and best practices
- Support special assignments and projects as needed
Minimum Qualifications
- Well organized and detail oriented
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Outlook, Access, Word, Excel, and SharePoint
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Experience working with complex databases
- Experience communicating effectively with consumers, providers, and staff
- Experience creating and maintaining data dictionaries and mapping databases
- Experience with SQL, Python, R, or Tableau is a plus
