Sr. Electrical Engineer (On-Site)
Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Engineer to lead the electrical design, development, documentation, and testing of advanced factory automation systems. This role focuses on integrating diverse industrial components and machinery into cohesive, reliable automation solutions. Projects range from PLC-based control systems and Ethernet communications to robotics integration and industrial power distribution.

- Partner with Management and Engineering teams to define requirements for new or modified factory automation systems
- Design and create complete electrical schematics for new and existing automation systems
- Use approved CAD tools to design electrical panels, enclosures, and cabling, and produce full assembly documentation
- Select and integrate PLC components into electrical subsystems in accordance with standards
- Collaborate with software teams on PLC programming, including foundational functions and diagnostics
- Ensure designs prioritize safety, reliability, and cost-effectiveness
- Work cross-functionally with mechanical, software, project, and production teams to troubleshoot and debug systems
- Support and advise technicians during system assembly
- Contribute to improving design processes, tools, and diagnostic capabilities
- Stay current with industry technologies, standards, and regulatory requirements
- Provide technical support and training to staff
- Build and maintain relationships with electrical component vendors
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- Minimum 4 years of experience in electrical engineering within factory automation and industrial system integration
- Experience defining requirements and specifications for automation systems
- Strong background integrating industrial components, including custom circuitry, panels, and cabling
- Extensive experience with PLC-based control systems and industrial safety components
- Proficiency in schematic design using AutoCAD, Visio, or similar tools
- Proficiency with mechanical CAD tools such as SolidWorks or Autodesk Inventor
- Skilled in using oscilloscopes and logic analyzers
- Strong understanding of electrical assembly processes and documentation
- Experience working with vendors to select and support components
- Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and multitasking skills
- Ability to work independently and in team environments
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience designing industrial Ethernet topologies
- Experience integrating robotics and robot controllers into PLC-based systems
- Experience specifying industrial power distribution, including isolation transformers
- Proficiency with power analyzers and Ethernet analyzers
Working Conditions
- Primarily office-based in El Dorado Hills, CA
- Occasional travel to other factory locations as needed
Salary: $100,000 – $130,000 annually, depending on experience and bonus eligible
