Job Description

HEPCO Inc. is seeking an experienced Project Engineering Supervisor to lead and coordinate multidisciplinary engineering activities for major Department of Energy (DOE) projects at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL).

The Project Engineering Supervisor will oversee civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and controls engineering functions—ensuring technical excellence, safety, and compliance with DOE and LANL standards. This position plays a vital role in directing engineering execution, coordinating design deliverables, and ensuring project objectives are met throughout all phases of the project life cycle.

  • Supervise and manage engineering activities across multiple disciplines for assigned LANL projects or project phases.
  • Plan, schedule, and direct complex engineering assignments in compliance with DOE, LANL, and NQA-1 quality assurance standards.
  • Interpret technical requirements, organize engineering tasks, and coordinate design, procurement, and construction interfaces.
  • Provide technical oversight for design development, constructability reviews, and issue resolution.
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams to develop design criteria, specifications, and technical documentation per DOE directives and LANL standards.
  • Review and approve engineering deliverables to ensure alignment with project scope, schedule, cost, and safety goals.
  • Support risk management, change control, and configuration management activities.
  • Collaborate with project management, procurement, and construction to maintain project alignment and compliance.
  • Mentor and guide engineering staff to foster continuous improvement and professional development.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required; Master’s in Engineering or Engineering Management preferred.
  • Progressive experience in engineering project execution and design supervision within DOE, defense, or large industrial/construction environments.
  • Background may include design engineering, field engineering, startup, or plant operations in complex facilities.
  • Proven leadership experience managing multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong understanding of DOE Orders, NQA-1, and LANL Engineering Standards.
  • 8 years experience
  • Proficiency in engineering and project management tools (AutoCAD, Revit, Primavera P6, MS Project).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
  • Familiarity with DOE O 413.3B (Program and Project Management for the Acquisition of Capital Assets).
  • Experience with Earned Value Management (EVM), Configuration Management, and Quality Assurance programs.
  • Demonstrated success leading technical teams in safety-critical environments.
  • Active DOE “Q” or DOD Top Secret clearance preferred (not required).

Pay Range: $55.00 - $70.00 per hour (Depending on experience and qualifications)
