Job Description

Our client is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Quality Engineer I to join their QAVMI QAE Team as an Individual Contributor. The primary focus of this role is on Product Build Assembly, Inspection, and Test Verification. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring the quality and integrity of products throughout the manufacturing process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform inspections and tests on products during assembly and build phases to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Document and maintain records related to product inspection and acceptance.
  • Provide hands-on support to Quality Inspection staff and program/project personnel.
  • Understand and apply defense electronics manufacturing quality and workmanship requirements.
  • Assist in the control of non-conforming materials and support process improvements.
  • Conduct First Article Inspections (FAI) and effective audits as required.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and other stakeholders, ensuring clarity in requirements and quality expectations.

Skills Required:

  • Proven experience and knowledge of manufacturing environments, including Process Sheets, Route Cards, Manufacturing Instructions, and Product Inspection.
  • Hands-on experience supporting Quality Inspection staff and Program/Project personnel.
  • Understanding of Defense Electronics Manufacturing quality and workmanship requirements.
  • IPC 610 Certification is essential.

Skills Preferred:

  • Experience with Non-Conforming Material Control and Process Improvement.
  • Ability to conduct First Article Inspections (FAI) and effective audits.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to understand and react to program requirements flow-down.

Experience Required:

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense security clearance.
  • Strong and demonstrated communication skills (written, verbal, visual) and interpersonal skills, with the ability to listen and communicate effectively within a team environment.
  • Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision while producing high-quality work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Experience Preferred:

  • Experience with Lean Six Sigma analysis and tools.
  • Industry experience in Defense Electronics Manufacturing, including complex electronic sub-assemblies, LRUs, and complete systems.
  • Familiarity with Quality Management Systems such as AS9100 or ISO9001.
  • Experience with TIPQA and Oracle PDM is a plus.

Education Required:

  • Associate’s Degree with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, or 4 years of experience in lieu of a degree.
