Senior Data Administrator (On-site)
Job Description
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Data Administrator with extensive expertise in Oracle databases. This role involves installing, upgrading, patching, tuning, and supporting Oracle databases to support evolving applications. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of performance evaluation and have at least 10 years of experience managing and supporting Oracle databases. This position requires a self-starter with excellent communication skills who can work seamlessly in both team and independent environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Database Management: Implement and maintain smooth operation and physical design of Oracle databases. Review and enhance database design and system integration.
- Performance Tuning: Utilize tools such as OEM or third-party software to finely tune database objects and partitions. Conduct advanced stats gathering and optimize Oracle 19c and 18c features.
- Disaster Recovery: Implement and maintain disaster recovery environments using Data Guard.
- Automation: Develop and streamline processes through Unix shell scripting or other scripting tools for efficiency and accuracy.
- Backup and Recovery: Ensure comprehensive backup and recovery solutions. Set up and schedule RMAN backups, and manage successful database restores.
- Security and Integrity: Maintain database security and integrity controls. Formulate policies, procedures, and standards related to database management.
- Reporting and Monitoring: Utilize ASH/AWR/ADDM reports to monitor transaction activity and performance, taking corrective actions as necessary.
- Documentation: Develop architectural and functional process diagrams for Oracle database services.
Skills Required:
- Oracle Expertise: Strong experience with Oracle 19c, 18c, 12c, and 11g architecture and database infrastructure design.
- Multitenancy: Proficient in managing and maintaining Oracle Container and Pluggable databases.
- Scripting: Skilled in automating and streamlining processes using Unix shell scripting or other scripting tools.
- Performance Tuning: Advanced experience with performance tuning, including the use of OEM or third-party tools, and a comprehensive understanding of Oracle optimizer behavior.
- Operating Systems: Strong experience with Solaris, Red Hat Linux, and Windows Operating Systems.
- Backup Solutions: Comprehensive knowledge of Oracle backup methodologies, RMAN backups, and successful database restores.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to tackle complex technical problems with innovative and effective solutions.
Skills Preferred:
- Certifications: Oracle OCP or OCM Certification.
- Storage Solutions: Experience with disk array storage solutions, preferably NetApp.
- Backup/Recovery Solutions: Experience with Backup/Recovery solutions, preferably CommVault.
- Additional Technologies: Experience with Hyperion, MySQL, and Cassandra is a plus.

- Total Experience: 11+ years
- Education: HS + 7+ years, AA + 5+ years, BS + 3+ years, MS (preferred)
- Clearance: Secret Clearance required
