Senior Electrical Design Specialist (On-site)

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Design Specialist to join our client’s team. This individual will be responsible for performing design and drafting of both electrical and mechanical aspects of electrical/electronic equipment. The ideal candidate will contribute to wiring harness design, schematic diagram layout, and line replaceable unit (LRU) chassis and housing design. This is a critical position that involves working on military ground vehicle systems, designing wiring harnesses, cable assemblies, and other electrical/electronic components.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design & Drafting: Perform both electrical and mechanical design and drafting for electrical/electronic equipment, including wiring harnesses and cable assemblies.
  • Schematic Diagrams: Generate schematic diagrams and wiring diagrams from rough sketches provided by electrical engineering.
  • Component Selection: Select LRU and wiring harness components, such as electrical connectors, wire, shielding, and accessories.
  • CAD Modeling: Produce CAD drawings for submission to customers, plants, operations, or vendors for manufacturing purposes.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain technical data packages, including specifications, models, and verification procedures.
  • Collaboration: Work within an Integrated Product Team (IPT) environment to ensure successful project outcomes. Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential.

Required Skills:

  • Military Ground Vehicles: Experience working with electrical/electronic systems for military ground vehicles.
  • Design & Documentation: Proficient in designing electrical/electronic sub-systems from concept through to validation and documentation.
  • CAD Software: Advanced knowledge of CAD tools, with expertise in Creo Pro-Cable (minimum 2 years experience).
  • Wiring Harness Design: Experience designing and routing wiring harnesses and cable assemblies, including creating detailed wiring diagrams.
  • Standards Knowledge: Familiar with MIL-STD-100, ANSI Y14.5/14.41, GD&T, and Siemens Capital Harness for wire routing.
  • Technical Tools: Proficiency in using Visio for wiring harness schematics and technical documentation.
  • Team Collaboration: Ability to work well in a team environment with strong cooperation and communication skills.

Experience Required:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Creo Design (required).
  • Experience in electrical/electronic systems design, particularly for military applications.

Education Requirements:

  • Associate Degree in a relevant technical discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience (minimum 9 years of experience).
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field is highly preferred, along with an additional 5 years of experience.
  • Desired: Working knowledge of electrical engineering and electro-mechanical engineering tools.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in electrical engineering and electro-mechanical systems design tools is a plus.

Pay Range: $55.00 - $60.00 per hour (Depending on experience and qualifications)
