Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Design Specification to join our client's team. This role involves the design and drafting of both electrical and mechanical aspects of electrical/electronic equipment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing wiring harnesses, creating layout drawings, checking schematic diagrams, and performing overall LRU (Line Replaceable Unit) chassis and housing design. The position requires interaction with electrical engineers and vendors to ensure the delivery of high-quality electrical designs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and draft electrical/electronic systems, including wiring harnesses, circuit layouts, and mechanical housings.
  • Convert rough schematic diagrams into detailed wiring diagrams and vice-versa.
  • Perform overall system packaging, including LRU chassis and housing design.
  • Select components such as electrical connectors, wires, shielding, and terminal lugs for wiring harnesses and cable assemblies.
  • Produce detailed schematic diagrams and CAD drawings for submission to customers, vendors, and internal teams.
  • Work closely with engineering teams to ensure proper integration of designs into the product, supporting both technical and operational requirements.
  • Ensure designs are aligned with configuration control and meet industry standards.

Skills Required:

  • Experience with Military Ground Vehicle Electrical/Electronic Systems: Prior experience in designing and drafting for military vehicle systems.
  • Full Lifecycle Design Experience: Ability to complete designs from initial concept through to final validation, including detailed design, documentation, and verification of subsystems.
  • Advanced Modeling and Analysis Tools: Experience using modeling and analysis tools to create product specifications, models, simulations, and technical data packages.
  • Expert CAD Skills: Strong proficiency in CAD drafting, modeling, and design techniques, with experience using Creo (minimum of 2 years experience, including Creo Pro-Cable).
  • Wiring Harness Design & Routing: Experience in designing, routing, and drafting wiring harnesses and cable assemblies.
  • MIL-STD-100 & ANSI Y14.5/14.41 Familiarity: Knowledge of drawing generation standards, including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Siemens Capital Harness Experience: Experience with wire routing utilizing logical data from Siemens Capital Harness is a plus.
  • Visio Technical Skills: Ability to create wiring harness schematics using Visio Technical.
  • Collaborative Team Skills: Excellent ability to work in an Integrated Product Team (IPT) environment, with strong oral and written communication skills.

Experience Required:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Creo Design.
  • Proven experience in designing wiring harnesses and electrical systems for military or similar complex systems.

Education & Qualifications:

  • Required: Associate’s degree in a relevant technical discipline (e.g., Electrical Engineering, Electro-Mechanical Engineering) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field plus at least 5 years of related experience.
  • Preferred: Knowledge of electrical engineering and electro-mechanical engineering tools is highly desirable.

Pay Range: $55.00 - $60.00 per hour (Depending on experience and qualifications)
