Senior Electrical Engineer (On-site)

Job Description

We are currently seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Engineer to support our client's Combat Mission Systems business, focusing on ground combat vehicles. The ideal candidate will be responsible for working closely with electronics suppliers to provide comprehensive electrical engineering support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Investigate, evaluate, and support the resolution of supplier quality issues through defect investigations, trend analysis, and continuous improvement projects.
  • Communicate effectively with suppliers to ensure they understand requirements and expectations, and provide progress reports and findings.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with IPC-A-600 and IPC J-STD-001 standards, as well as subordinate IPC standards/guidelines.
  • Possess working knowledge of IPC-A-610 and IPC-A-620.
  • Travel to supplier facilities and other locations as needed, approximately 10% or less.

Additional Duties:

  • Lead problem-solving and root-cause analysis with suppliers to prevent non-conformance recurrence.
  • Assess the impact of nonconforming products and evaluate suppliers’ corrective actions.
  • Assist suppliers with process improvements to resolve manufacturing concerns.
  • Promote a “Zero Defect” mentality within the supply base.
  • Participate in Technical Interchange Meetings within the Integrated Product Team.

Skills Required:

  • Structured problem-solving abilities using established methods and systems.
  • Understanding of technical drawing requirements and compliance assessment.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and industry-related software applications.
Skills Preferred:
  • Design experience in PCBA/CCA for aerospace or defense industries.
  • Knowledge of MIL-PRF-31032, MIL-PRF-55110, IPC-A-610, and IPC-A-620.
  • Familiarity with aerospace and defense industry fabrication processes, equipment, testing, and instrumentation.
  • Experience with production line validation, testing, and qualification of fabricated products.
  • Understanding of AS9100 Quality System, AS9102C First Article Requirements, AS9145 APQP/PPAP Requirements, and Source Inspection.
  • Expertise in low and high voltage electrical power distribution and management.
  • Experience with servo amplifier design, manufacturing, and testing.
  • Knowledge of environmental qualification design, including EMI/EMC principles.
  • Familiarity with IPC-6012, IPC-6013, IPC-6018, MIL-PRF-31032, MIL-PRF-55110, MIL-STD-883, MIL-PRF-38534, and ASME Y14.5.

Experience Required:

  • Minimum of 5 years in a relevant role within the industry.
  • Working knowledge of IPC-A-600, IPC J-STD-001.
  • Experience with Failure Analysis, Root Cause Analysis, and Corrective/Preventative Actions.

Education Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
