Senior Supplier Quality Engineer (On-site)
Job Description
Our client is seeking a talented Senior Supplier Quality Engineer (Sr. SQE) to join their team. In this role, the Sr. SQE will be responsible for investigating, evaluating, and resolving supplier quality issues. This includes conducting defect investigations, analyzing defect trends, and leading continuous improvement initiatives to drive supplier performance and enhance product quality.
- Conduct and lead containment activities for supplier non-conformances, maintaining traceability and assigning tasks to ensure swift resolution.
- Engage in frequent status reporting and communication with both internal and external customers to keep stakeholders informed.
- Enforce purchase order (PO) requirements, manage supplier non-conformance, and drive supplier performance improvement.
- Perform detailed root cause analysis and develop effective corrective actions.
- Mentor and develop junior Supplier Quality Engineers, fostering growth and competency within the team.
- Evaluate nonconforming products and assess suppliers’ corrective actions to determine effectiveness.
- Champion problem-solving and root cause analysis activities with suppliers to eliminate recurrence of issues.
- Review and approve First Article Inspections in accordance with AS9102 requirements, and evaluate suppliers’ First Article Test plans.
- Promote a “Zero Defect” culture within the supply base and implement A3 problem-solving tool practices.
Skills and Qualifications:
Required:
- Solid understanding of mechanical drawings and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Proficient in Failure Analysis, Root Cause Analysis, and Corrective/Preventative Actions.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 and AS9100 Quality Systems, and AS9102B First Article Requirements or similar industry standards.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite and relevant industry software applications.
Preferred:
- Experience working in a Defense Prime Contract environment.
- Familiarity with product line validation, test planning, and equipment/product qualification.
- Experience with electrical assemblies, particularly in the defense industry.
- Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma concepts and tools (e.g., Green/Black Belt certification).
- Experience with the Toyota Production System (TPS), Toyota Way, and A3 problem-solving methodologies.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering-related field of study is preferred; however, candidates with 10 years of relevant work experience in lieu of a degree will also be considered.
