Senior Supplier Quality Engineer (Sr. SQE) On-site
Job Description
Our client, a leading defense industry manufacturer located in Anniston, Alabama, is seeking a Senior Supplier Quality Engineer (Sr. SQE) to join their team. This is an essential, on-site role supporting the Procurement Quality Support Engineering (PQSE) group. The Sr. SQE will be responsible for managing and resolving supplier quality issues, conducting in-depth defect investigations, and leading continuous improvement efforts across the supply base.
This individual will play a key role in ensuring that supplier deliverables meet stringent quality requirements, leading containment activities, and maintaining detailed traceability and documentation throughout the process. The position also involves regular communication with internal and external stakeholders and mentoring junior quality engineers.
- Investigate and resolve supplier quality problems using structured problem-solving techniques.
- Lead root cause analysis and ensure implementation of effective corrective actions.
- Evaluate the impact of nonconforming products and assess supplier corrective action plans.
- Conduct and assess First Article Inspections (FAI) to AS9102 standards.
- Review and approve supplier test plans and reports.
- Drive a "Zero Defect" mindset across the supply chain through continuous improvement.
- Support the enforcement of purchase order (PO) quality requirements.
- Interface with internal and external customers to report status and progress.
- Mentor and guide less experienced Supplier Quality Engineers.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline or 10+ years of relevant work experience in lieu of degree.
- Minimum 4 years of related experience in supplier quality or manufacturing quality.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical drawings and GD&T.
- Demonstrated experience with Failure Analysis, Root Cause Analysis, and Corrective/Preventative Actions.
- Proficiency with ISO 9001, AS9100, and AS9102B standards.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and quality-related software tools.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a defense contracting or prime contractor environment.
- Familiarity with electrical assemblies in defense applications.
- Working knowledge of Lean Six Sigma (Green or Black Belt preferred).
- Experience with the Toyota Production System (TPS) and A3 problem solving.
- Understanding of product validation processes, test planning, and product qualification.
